The Oldest and Multicultural Temple, Kim Tek Le Temple

Letnan Tionghoa bernama Kwee Hoen.
Kalau Chinese
namanya Jin De Yuan dan Indonesia-nya ya Vihara Dharma Bhakti,” ujar Hanny
salah satu pengurus di klenteng ini. Namun entah bagaimana masyarakat bahkan
media masa masih sering menyebutnya Klenteng Kim Tek Le.
Bodhidharma, Maitreya, Delapan Belas Arhat, Guanyu, San Yuan, Xuan Tian Shang
Di, Cheng Huang Ye, Fu-de Zheng-shen, Xuan Tan Gong, Mazu, Hua Gong Hua Po,
Qing Shui Yan, Can Kui Zu Shi, Cai Shen Ye, dan Mba Djugo. Dengan total 81
rupang.

The nickname of the oldest pagoda in Jakarta is intended for
the Kim Tek Le Pagoda because it was recorded as having been built in 1650 by a
Chinese lieutenant named Kwee Hoen. Located in Petak Sembilan, Glodok. This
temple is also commonly called the Nine Petak Temple or the Dharma Bhakti
Temple.
Based on the manager's statement. The name of Kim Tek Le
Temple itself is actually the old name which has now been changed to Jin De
Yuan. Meanwhile, the name Vihara Dharma Bhakti itself was appointed because we
wanted an Indonesian element in the name of this pagoda.
"So there are two versions, Chinese and Indonesian. For
Chinese, the name is Jin De Yuan and for Indonesia, it's Vihara Dharma
Bhakti," said Hanny, one of the administrators at this temple. But somehow
the public and even the mass media still often call it the Kim Tek Le Temple.
What's interesting about this pagoda is how it does not
specifically worship one religion or sect. Known as a multicultural pagoda,
sects or religions such as Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism can pray at this
pagoda. This is also clearly written on the Praise Board hanging in the main
hall. As well as there are poems installed on the right and left of the door in
the pagoda which means:
The gold censer puffs with happiness, all places are open, so
is the Dharma realm. The gate of virtue displays an atmosphere of glory that
pervades the human realm.
In his interview, Hanny also explained that routine
activities carried out apart from worship activities are the celebration of
religious holidays. Such as Cap Go Meh and Chinese New Year, as well as Rupang
Day.
"On Rupang Day we celebrate the resurrection of the
statue itself," explained Hanny.
If in the Vihara there is only a Buddha statue. So in this
pagoda there are also statues of gods such as Shakyamuni (Buddha), Guanyin,
Bodhidharma, Maitreya, Delapan Belas Arhat, Guanyu, San Yuan, Xuan Tian Shang
Di, Cheng Huang Ye, Fu-de Zheng-shen, Xuan Tan Gong, Mazu, Hua Gong Hua Po,
Qing Shui Yan, Can Kui Zu Shi, Cai Shen Ye, dan Mba Djugo. With a total of 81
statues.
In this pagoda, it is also customary to carry out rice
donation activities for local residents once every three months.
Hanny also explained the reason for the large number of
worshipers coming because this pagoda is known as the oldest pagoda in the
area, even in Indonesia. Usually also on the day before Chinese New Year
celebrations, many worshipers who come from outside Jakarta come and pray.
Because it is considered a tradition and a spiritual sense that is valued
deeper in this temple.
